Most liquid shampoos are 70–80% water — and water breeds bacteria and mould within days. To survive it, brands add parabens, phenoxyethanol, EDTA, and synthetic stabilisers. UNMAI powders contain zero water. No water means no microbial growth, no need for any of those additives. Your pouch stays naturally shelf-stable for 18–24 months, and your scalp never absorbs a preservative it didn't need.
Shikakai saponins, Amla's vitamin C, Bhringraj alkaloids — these active compounds degrade the moment they're dissolved in water. In a liquid bottle, potency drops every week from the day it leaves the factory. In dry powder, the actives are locked and stable. When you mix with warm water at home, you're activating a genuinely fresh formula — not one that's been sitting in a warehouse for six months losing its effect.
A single word — 'fragrance' — can legally conceal up to 3,000 individual chemicals in India and the EU. 'Aqua' fills most of the bottle. 'Proprietary blend' hides ratios.
